Mishaps are always sudden and unexpected. The
destiny of the misfortunate depends in great
part on the subjects involved in helping who
in the right time and with good organization.
Apart from the professional teams (the first
aid, firefighters) whatever the cause might
be, the CB Red Cross has a great part in helping
the misfortunate, especially if the rescuing
lasts long.
Mass mishaps do not include only big car accidents
on highways, in fog or distruction of large
objects with great material damage and minimal
human victims. There are some disastrous events
when great many people are injured or killed:
bus accidents, railway and plane crashes, fires
of department stores, hotels, cinemas, mass
poisonings in industry. Natural catastrophes
(eartquakes, floods, slides) as well as mishaps
during wars are all great challenges for rescuing
teams and all the participants in helping.
The conflicts, like those in former Yugoslavia,
demand proper preparations, in the extra education
of medical workers and associates and in training
of the CB Red Cross activists and the first
aid teams and the CB Red Cross instructors who
will pass on their knowledge to others.
Urgent medical situations can happen anywhere
and in any time. When they do every second is
important. The earlier the rescuing is done
the chance for survival of the victims are greater.
It means that not only a medical worker but
also a passer by can start the first aid before
the coming of professional teams.
The aim of the gaining knowledge and skills
in the first aid and CPR is the training of
instructors, CB Red Cross activists, medical
and educational workers who will then difuse
their knowledge. All other people ( like the
members of the families with risk patients or
professionals who can easily find themselves
in the situation with injured or sick people
like firefighters, police, security staff of
big companies and institutions, kindergarten
and preschool institutions staff) can be trained.
The education is, naturally, adapted to all
target groups, with the ephasis on practice
(personal drilling). The educational staff consists
of the CB Red Cross Education Centre professionals
(the eminent experts in urgent medicine) and
employed associates.
The CB Red Cross Educational Centre posses proper
educational devices, space and audiovisual equipment.
